Introducing the Puma Cell Endura worn by Ghetts.

After the success of his latest album ‘Ghetto Gospel – The New Testament’  we teamed up with East London rapper Ghetts to help reissue the Puma Cell Endura. He spoke to us about his sense of style and colour co-ordination and how he enjoys seeing styles of trainer from back in the day seeing a comeback to the streets!

Nowadays it’s not uncommon for sneaker brands to reach into their archives and pull out something completely on-trend, and this has never been truer than in the case of the Puma Cell Endura. The 1998 runner is back on the market after a brief hiatus and seems right at home in today’s footwear scene.

During the 90’s visible cushioning technologies was a slowly developing trend that many footwear brands were exploring – The Puma Cell Endura is the pinnacle of Puma’s exploration with the technology.

Getting its name from the pattern of interlocking hexagonal cells that make up the sole and provide the cushioning for the wearer, the Cell Endura has a number of distinctive features. The lacing system and eyelets help to define the silhouette and give the shoe a unique shape, while the rubber toecap and mesh upper allow for a breathable fit without sacrificing protection.

Check out our imagery with Ghetts below and look out for an exclusive interview with Ghetts on Hypebeast in the upcoming days.

The Puma Cell Endura is Now Available online. Sizes range from UK6 – UK11 (including half sizes), priced at £110.

OFF-WHITE x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star 70 ‘THE TEN’ | SOLD-OUT

03.10.18 General

When imagery for the Nike x OFF-WHITE ‘THE TEN’ collection first surfaced, many people were surprised (and excited) to see the Converse Chuck Taylor included. Then when the OFF-WHITE Chuck Taylor received a release date separate to the rest of The Ten, the buzz grew, leading to it being one of the most coveted shoes of the collection.

While it may seem out of place at first, the Converse Chuck Taylor more than deserved to be included in the list of iconic silhouettes. First introduced in 1917 as a basketball shoe, the Chuck Taylor has gone on to make a big impact among the sneaker scene and in popular culture, becoming one of the most widely recognised shoes on the market.

Now, only a few months after the first release, another iteration of the OFF-WHITE Chuck Taylor is set to drop. Whereas the first collaboration took the shape in a more futuristic direction, the next one looks to the past, and keeps the materials and look OG.

The OFF-WHITE x Converse Chuck Taylor 70 features a classic canvas upper, deconstructed branding, inverted heel tabs and the instantly recognisable zip tie affixed to the left shoe. By far the most notable addition is the variation of the OFF-WHITE Crosshatch pattern which is printed along the outsole.

The OFF-WHITE x Converse Chuck Taylor 70 raffle is now SOLD OUT.

Givenchy JAW Limited Edition for Footpatrol | Store Install

03.10.18 General

Givenchy JAW: A limited edition of Givenchy’s urban sports style sneaker.

Named after the “teeth” on its distinctive sole, the JAW combines the many functionalities of a sports shoe yet takes its cues from several eras, fusing elements of Sixties-era track shoes with the chunky shapes of high-tech sneakers from the Nineties. A fusion of high performance and haute couture, its sensibility is squarely of the moment.

The store install was designed by London based design studio Hotel Creative whom in the past have designed many of our in-store campaigns. The distinctive window aesthetic features the sole sneaker immersed within the jaws of a huge shark. The jaw is made to look like the skeleton of a shark with red silicone dipped teeth, this co-ordinates from the footwear that features the same hues.

Upon entering the store, another smaller take down of the jaw is present housed on a concrete and red silicon podium, featuring a museumesque plaque offering up further information about the project.

GIVENCHY JAW: The JAW low sneaker by Givenchy limited edition for Footpatrol designed by Clare Waight Keller is now available in store at Footpatrol London & Footpatrol Paris. Limited to 100 pairs worldwide.

Footpatrol Reopening | Open Now

01.10.18 General

Footpatrol has always been about iconic store executions – simple, resourceful and purposeful.

When Footpatrol originally opened on St Annes Court back in 2002, the wire mesh cages of this original store helped to pave the way for utilitarian design language now synonymous in streetwear and sneaker culture.

When it came time to open our doors on Berwick St, Soho in 2010 we wanted to continue to push these boundaries and explored the ‘space within a space’ design ethos. The wooden structure soon became iconic, and a hub for not only London’s sneaker community but for those visiting the city from all over the world.

As the footwear we stock and the culture we love is constantly evolving, we felt it was now time to revisit our look and modernise this space we call home. The store has undertaken a complete overhaul, with an improved layout and new look throughout.

The wooden motif is gone and has been replaced with a futuristic metal and stone finish that opens the space up, and immediately invites you in and creates a better and more attractive place for both customers and brands.

The refit designed by London based architectural design studio; Counterfeit Studio mirrors the aesthetic of our newly opened Paris store, while still retaining the London identity that has informed the stores aesthetic since the beginning.

In keeping with the same resourceful approach to utilitarian materials that underpinned the previous store iterations, fibreglass sections have been re-appropriated as oversized benches, display shelving and cladding throughout the store. The cladding cleverly conceals a flexible shelving system that allows our staff to continually reconfigure the store when needed.

The iconic Footpatrol Gasmask has long been the instantly recognisable logo of the brand, so it was only fitting that this was also enhanced with a new look. Taking cues from our recently opened Paris store, London now also features an infinity gasmask neon.

Designed by artist Marcus Bracey and his team at God’s Own Junkyard, our new neon Gasmask also features a refined colour hue and steel housing to compliment the material and design direction, retaining its place as the focal point of the new Footpatrol London store.

We will continue to stock the latest and most exclusive trainers from top-tier brands like Nike, NikeLAB, Jordan, adidas Originals, adidas Consortium, Converse Incubate, Vans Vault, ASICS Tiger and many more. As well as accessories from brands such as Medicom, Jason Markk, and so forth.

OFF-WHITE x Nike Blazer Mid ‘THE TEN’ | RAFFLE NOW CLOSED

01.10.18 General

OFF-WHITE x Nike Blazer Mid ‘THE TEN’

The first Nike basketball shoe to carry the Swoosh, the Blazer was designed for immediate dominating impact on the court. In the mid-1980s, a decade after its debut, the sneaker was wholly embraced by skate culture where the sneaker’s high ankle cut and full foot support were the perfect blueprint for skateboarding’s new aerial dynamism.

In 2017, OFF-WHITE designer Virgil Abloh worked alongside Nike to create 10 sneakers incorporated with the ideas of Abloh. Dubbed “the TEN”, each silhouette were reworked and given a deconstructed look. With misplaced Nike swooshes, signature OFF-WHITE annotations and vintage tongues added, this allowed the footwear to stand out from the current look.

One of the models that were part of “the TEN” was the Nike Blazer Mid. Featuring a mixture of Black, White and Muslin colour way on the upper, the stand out aesthetic is the oversized Black swoosh across medial side of the shoe.

Almost a year on, Nike and Virgil Abloh have released 2.0 versions of the original 10 and a few models having this treatment have released in two colour such as the Nike Zoom Fly Mercuial Flyknit and the Nike Air Presto. Next to receive this treatment is the Nike Blazer Mid. Both resembling the aesthetics of the original, the colourway differs by using Black and White as well as Canvas, Total Orange and Vanilla.

OFF-WHITE x Nike Blazer Mid ‘THE TEN’ raffle is now SOLD OUT.

Sneaker Con London 2018 | Event Recap

30.09.18 General

Sneaker Con, dubbed ‘the greatest sneaker show on Earth’, was first introduced in New York, March 2009 by co-founder Yu-Ming Wu. Wu also co-founder of sneaker blog site Sneakernews and now Stadium Goods, created the popular sneaker event to give a chance to the community to buy, sell and trade as well as give an experience you normally wouldn’t get in another sneaker event.

Started off rather small, almost 10 years on, Sneaker Con has become a monumental entity within the sneaker industry providing a host of vendors, sponsors and special guests such as NBA legend Penny Hardaway to its event. From 600 consumers to 20,000, the numbers prove that Sneaker Con have successfully progressed in the right direction. Initially hosting its fair within the United States, 2017, proved pivotal to the brand as Sneaker Con found its way across the pond to the UK for the first time. Gathering momentum of acknowledgment over the years and London being an epicentre of culture, fashion and sneakers, it was perfect timing.

Opening its doors to London in May 2017, Sneaker Con returned in December on the same year. In 2018, we were in attendance to experience the now much talked about sneaker fair. Hosted in the spacious ExCel London, Dockland. Being amongst consumers of ages as little as 10 years to 50+, Sneaker Con caters to all ages and you would understand why such a big space is used. Housing a large amount of vendors, trading pits, DJ booth, authentication stand and sections for influencers and Youtube sensations for people to meet, this epitomised the current state of the culture.

Overall, it was a successful turnout and a lot of bodies were in at present all to get what is hot and in trend as well as vintage collectors items. Give aways were handed out and it seemed everybody had a good time. We also had a great experience.

Thanks Sneaker Con for having us!

Footpatrol Reopening | 28.09.18

25.09.18 General

The film was shot in a single-room workshop in Walthamstow, as Marcus Bracey and his team constructed the frame and intricately wired up the new Footpatrol Neon Gas Mask . There was something innately cinematic about the process, as different elements of the process took place under the pools of neon light. From the grand scale of the large perspex frame, down to the complex wiring, the neon itself almost seemed like it’s own character as it came to life piece by piece. As such, we shot and cut the film in the order in which the process actually happened, slowly revealing each part of a long and complicated process, teasing the iconic shape of the gas mask, before a final reveal of the neon in all its glory.

Since Footpatrol’s origins, the gas mask has become the embodiment of the brand. Becoming the corporate identity of the store worldwide, it’s been featured in many collaborative projects from footwear to apparel as well as accessories. Garnering acknowledgement from Footpatrol consumers and followers alike, the gas mask is heavily represented within the community.

In addition, the iconic gas mask has become central to the stores interior since its reopening in 2010. Upon entry into the store, the first thing the consumer will recognise is a welcoming, brightly lit neon branding. With a finish to coincide with the theme of the store, it featured a weathered look supported by a perspex frame. In contrast to the newly designed branding, the gas mask neon is updated with a fresh blue tint. The standout feature is the a mirror placed in behind the neon to give it an infinity look.

Footpatrol London will be reopening on Friday 28th September 2018.
