D Double E Tour

20.05.19 Frequent Players

D Double E is one of the original pioneers of ‘Grime’. As an East London native, D Double E had the rapidly evolving new music scene on his doorstep. Having already cut his teeth as a Jungle and Garage MC, D Double took to this sound instantly.

With his unique sound, flow and signature adlibs D Double stood out from his peers and in a category of his own. As part of N.A.S.T.Y Crew (one of the first known collectives of ‘grime’ artists) then his own group, Newham Generals, D Double made a big impact in the scene.

After years of pirate radio sets, raves and mixtapes D Double had a reputation that proceeded him. Often referred to as ‘your favourite MC’s favourite MC’ and classed as ‘the greatest of all time’ by Skepta. D Double E has finally begun to receive the mainstream attention he deserves in recent years. D Double has his own record label, Bluku Music and is a prominent figure in the music scene both here at home and abroad.

Nike Air Max Tailwind IV ‘Black/Wolf Grey’| Les Pépites Du Marais

19.05.19 General

Paris has an especially close relationship with Nike Air Max. A quick walk through the city and you’ll see almost every model on the market, worn by all kinds of different people.

The Centre Pompidou quite famously inspired Tinker Hatfield to include visible Air Technology in the first place, and since then Paris and Air Max have been synonymous. Due to this, we could think of nowhere more fitting to re-introduce the Nike Air Max Tailwind IV.

Originally released in 1999, the Air Max Tailwind optimised the progression of the Air Max line. The silhouette was a unique, chunky shape, much like the ’95, yet still aerodynamic like the ’97. In many ways the Max Tailwind IV signalled the start of the 2000’s (at least in terms of sneaker trends at least).

To mark the 20th anniversary of the shoe Nike are set to re-release OG colour-ways and some new iterations. The rollout began with the highly anticipated Supreme collaboration earlier this year, however as of tomorrow the Air Max Tailwind IV will be back!

Paris is a city of unique style which lends itself well to the Air Max Tailwind IV silhouette. To commemorate this release, we wanted to celebrate our Parisian customers and the community in which we reside. This area has welcomed openly us over this past year and for this we introduce our ongoing campaign: Les Pépites Du Marais.

The goal of the project was simple: to celebrate the creatives, community figures, local business, consumers and friends we have in the Rue De Temple area. Each feature will be in their natural environment and photographed wearing one of the upcoming Air Max Tailwind IV styles.

Initially releasing in the eye-catching OG ‘White/Volt’ colour-way the shoe is now taking a more subtle approach with the new ‘Black/Wolf Grey’ iteration.

Steering away from the traditional mesh/leather blend, the ‘Black/Wolf Grey’ features a canvas upper, in a muted black colour-way. This is complimented perfectly by the grey, speckled sole and small hits of volt found on the heel that bring the shoe into the modern day.

Continuing our Les Pépites Du Marais series we wanted to highlight one of our favourite restaurants and more importantly one of our own. Clement Molton (or Clems as his friends call him), has been instrumental in the success of Footpatrol Paris and is a key figure in the Rue De Temple area.

Clem’s is the manager of Footpatrol Paris and has been working in the area for almost 10 years. He loves this part of Paris, and always quick to recommend one of it’s little jewels of every type.

Au Coeur du Marais is one of those little jewels that Clem’s often refers to. It’s like our Paris HQ, our first idea when we want to sit and have a nice meal.

It’s also where we have our Paris team’s dinners or where we go to have a drink after work. And it’s often Pierre who has to put up with us, but he always serves us very well.

With a focus on fresh ingredients, good food and good people Au Coeur du Marais is truly a hidden gem and one of our favourite spots in the area.

The Nike Air Max Tailwind IV ‘Black/Wolf Grey’ will be available in-store at Footpatrol Paris and London and online, Sunday 26th of May, priced at £140/€170.

sacai x Nike LDV Waffle Racer | RAFFLE NOW CLOSED

10.05.19 General

Chitose Abe’s high fashion label sacai and Nike resume their partnership once again to offer a high end take on the Swoosh’s archival silhouettes, the Nike LDV Racer and Nike Waffle Racer respectively.

The Waffle Racer silhouette revolutionised Nike’s running footwear in the 70’s through its ‘waffle’ outsole innovation. Designed by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman, the waffle outsole was inspired by using his wife’s waffle iron to create rubber soles that featured multi-sided polygon shaped studs, which in turn provided gripping edges for improved traction.

sacai have collaborated with Nike in the past on the Nike Dunk High and Air Max 90 respectively, both silhouettes featured a laceless element. sacai is renowned for its prodigious technical ability, splicing two items of clothing together to create a sum that is greater than its parts. The latest Nike project transcends that style by fusing two Nike models into one.

Previewed during Paris Fashion Week 2019, the silhouette portrayed a never-before-seen look on a Nike model. The design blends vintage and innovation with high fashion lifestyle proving a perfect combination.

Featuring a host of overlays, the LDV Waffle Racer possesses a rule of two composition taking elements from both vintage models into one. The base of the upper is accompanied with an open mesh, whilst a mixture of premium leather and suede overlays further the design . Double Swooshes in contrasting colours are placed on the medial and lateral sides of the shoe. Further double elements are seen on the tongue, laces and the standout double midsole, the iconic waffle outsole apply the finishing touches.

The sacai x Nike LDV Waffle Racer will be available for an in-store purchase exclusively through an online raffle. STRICTLY ONE ENTRY PER COLOUR PER PERSON, multiple entries will be deleted. Raffle entrance closes on Monday 13th May at 9:00AM BST.

The unmistakable Jumpman logo would go on to take over the Air Jordan IV OG for the first time in 2008. Now seen on the tongue, heel, sockliner and outsole, the Jumpman-branded Air Jordan IV OG was released as part of the Countdown Pack series, alongside the Air Jordan XIX.

02.05.19 General

During a screening of his film, Paradox Bullets in London, the artist revealed his latest project with Nike.

Tom Sachs praises in partners at Nike, describing his NikeCraft venture with the brand as a 50/50 process, fueled by production he says only he and Nike are capable of. The latest project from the NikeCraft range is the Mars Yard Overshoe, a snow boot-like silhouette designed to combat the elements during winter, while retaining its fashion appeal beyond.

Footpatrol x Hotel Creative Communi T | Behind The Scenes

27.04.19 General

Following our recent collaboration with Hotel Creative, we wanted to show that the process was more than just animated rendering – a lot of hard work went into the production of the visuals… Keep reading to discover what went on behind the scenes at the neon video shoot!

The idea was complex, but we had a studio full of more than capable artists who could not only deliver but exceed all expectations.

We started off with some preliminary tests of the neon’s (Hotel Creative and Footpatrol) flickering between each other, only to initially tease that the eagerly anticipated collaboration was in fruition. Amongst the many lighting rigs and apparatus, we were filming with some incredible bits of kit, one of which was The Phantom Flex4K.

The Phantom Flex4K is a full-featured digital cinema camera, capable of speeds that range from standard frame rates up to 1,000 frames-per-second (fps) at 4K and almost 2,000 fps at 2K resolution. Building upon the award-winning technology of Phantom digital cinema products, the Flex4K combines features found in the latest cinema cameras with those otherwise found only in specialty cameras. they’re as high-speed as they are high-priced; The Flex4K will go for prices ranging from $109,000 to $164,900 depending on the configuration.

When it was time to drop the final neon, we wanted to be sure all angles were covered, as we only had one shot at this. Not only 1 but 2 branded lock-ups were made so we could test thoroughly.

After the neon was dropped, some of the components had shattered and flung across the room in a truly cinematic style, whilst miraculously, others stayed intact.

The remaining neon shards from previous takes were collected, and used as visual assets in the product photography, and also the in-store display at our London store. Our aim was to destroy the neon sign, upcycle it and then use it within our retail installations in a non-traditional way…

We would like to thank everyone on set that day that made this collaborative project so fun and look equally spectacular.Thank you, Hotel Creativefor Design & Art Direction, Shape Design & Buildfor the Set Production, and Maskomi for the Edit & Post Production.

A special mention to John Ross, the photographer in question that allowed us to bring all this carnage to reality in his London Studio. John Ross has produced a profound amount of creative work, most notably for the likes of Stormzy, Manic Street Preachers and The Pet Shop Boys.

The Footpatrol x Hotel Create Communi-T is available in-store. Sizes range from S – XL, priced at £30. For further information on in-store stock availability please call 020 7287 8094.

ASICS GEL-KAYANO 5 x Vivienne Westwood | Now Available

26.04.19 General

Both ASICS and Vivienne Westwood share a long brand history of design and championed uniqueness with quality, craftmanship and innovation at their core. This shared history and distinction to transcend the ordinary brought about this timely collaboration.

Vivienne Westwood began designing in 1971 along with her then partner Malcolm McLaren, at the time they used their 430 Kings Road shop in London to showcase their ideas and designs. It was in 1976 when Westwood and McLaren defined the street culture of Punk with Seditionaries.

By the end of the seventies Westwood herself was already considered a symbol of the British avantgarde turning to traditional Savile Row tailoring techniques, using British fabrics and 17th and 18th century art for inspiration.

In 2006 Westwood was appointed Dame of the British Empire by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Vivienne Westwood is one of the last independent global fashion companies in the world. With a design record spanning over forty years, Vivienne Westwood is recognized as a global brand and Westwood herself as one of the most influential fashion designers, and activists, in the world today.

Andreas Kronthaler, Creative director (and Husband) of VW says “ASICS are brilliant technicians, known for their expertise, they are the best in their field. We love the look of their trainers because they are form following function – which attracted us to this collaboration.  We wanted to create something real. They are not just decoration or a fashion statement- they are functional. With this collaboration we wanted to bring together both.”

The GEL-KAYANO 5 OG shoe was first released by ASICS in 1999. Selected for its history and desire to reimagine a classic shape, the red and orange colour palette of the trainer was informed by one of the original colour-ways of Vivienne Westwood’s archive Squiggle print.

Lined with this original print and featuring the Vivienne Westwood multi-coloured orb embroidered on the back of the shoe, This special collaboration touches on the heritage of both brands, reimagining ASICS classic styles, re-released with advanced performance technology and Vivienne Westwood’s iconic design elements and prints synonymous with the brands history.

Launching in-store ONLY on Saturday 27thApril, Sizes range from UK7 – UK11, priced at £160. For further information on in-store stock availability please call 020 7287 8094.
