The Air Jordan 1 OG High is one of the sought after silhouettes in recent years and Jordan Brand doesn’t seem to rest on their laurels. After a host of colourways launched already in 2021, a new release is on the horizon.

The up and coming ‘Electro Orange’ iteration bares similar colour blocking to the classic ‘Black Toe’ silhouette but with a few tweaks. The upper is constructed with a combination of a white base and black overlay around the toe and eyelets. Further black detailing is seen on the Swoosh and signature Wings logo. Sneakers Unboxed: Studio to Street Exhibition Recap

14.06.21 General

The rise in the sneaker community has been massive, espeically over the last few years so with the announcement of the Design Museum holding a special exhibit covering everything sneaker related, we knew this was a big moment for sneakers, and for the UK sneaker community.

Though exhibitions dedicated to sneakers isn’t anything new, ‘Sneakers Unboxed’ takes things to a whole new level and dissects the history of sneakers. Whilst flowing through room to room, you’re taken on a journey that sheds light on some of the earliest examples of some of the sneakers we still wear on our feet today, to some of the most technologically advanced pairs.

Kick starting the exhibition, we take a trip down memory lane with the more cultural focussed section of the exhibit, ‘Style’. Taking it back to the streets, we look at Adidas and Puma and their iconic Superstar and Clydes silhouettes and their impact on the Hip-Hop scene along with the B-boys and B-girls breakdance movement of the 80’s.

At the moment, one of the most sought after silhouettes has to be the Air Jordan 1. The last couple of years have seen a host of retros, new colour ways and collaborations that have seen the sneaker community crave each new iteration so fans won’t be disappointed with the assortment on offer. A prototype (1984) sits alongside a pair from 1985 which sits next to an equally impressive player sample.

Basically, ‘Sneakers Unboxed’ covers every surface of the sneaker world. As you continue through, you’ll learn more about the impact sneakers had within the world of music and the grime scene, sneakers and when they started to become seen as collectables and of course, technology and the impact this has had on the world of sport and lifestyle.

Take a closer look at the exhibition below and make sure to check out our IG for a special competition in partnership with the Design Museum. If you want to learn more about the exhibition or to book your tickets, Click here.

With the Dunk being ever so popular in 2021 and women’s exclusive releases being consistent, the latest iteration is a testament to that.

The university hoops OG returns covered in various materials including suede, metallic coated leather and more, as well as a host of different colours creating a mismatched aesthetic. In addition, a bold silver Swoosh on both medial and lateral side with embossed logos on the tongue tab.

C2H4 x Vans Old Skool & Era | Now Available

07.06.21 General

C2H4® (Molecular Formula for Ethylene) is all about the concept of chemistry. Established by designer Yixi Chen, combining influences curated from science and subversive culture, they express the fashion philosophy and experimental spirit with innovative garment constructions.

From collaborating with brands like asics, Mastermind Japan, Kappa respectively, they return with another project with California based brand, Vans.

Having released a pack of 2 in 2018 dubbed “the Ozone Generator”, the sneakers featured futuristic colours like light grey, salsa red and marine blue, also futuristic materials such as metallic sliver tape and transparent rubber. The design was inspired by the same name of the release.

3 years later, they embark on a new project with an updated mindset. Sticking with the ‘Chemists’ theme, the now 3 pack collection include the Vans Era, Old Skool and Mountain Edition. The Era silhouette dubbed “Virtual Reality Alpha”, is dressed in a white alyssum canvas nylon with black “Matrix of Conciousness” details printed all over. The midsole takes on a black monochrome look with text print near the toe and heel.

In contrast, the “Relic Stone” Old Skool dons a monochromatic aesthetic with the upper and midsole both dressed in a dark grey hue. The materials use a combination of suede and canvas as its foundation whilst the stripe utilises corduroy in white for contrast.

Lastly, the Vol. 2 Mountain Edition borrows similar resemblances to its Old Skool predecessor. The “Nightwalker” release is made up of a concoction of black leather underlays and black suede on the mid paneling, corduroy lining as well as a strap on the mid foot. Further down, a luminescent teal is used for the midsole.

Nike x Fragment Dunk High ‘Beijing’ | Raffles Closed!

02.06.21 General

In 2010, Nike and frequent collaborator Fragment Design produced a 3-pack of unconventional Dunk High’s. Dubbed the ‘City Pack’, each pair were inspired by key cities such as London, Beijing and New York respectively. Two pairs pairs donned asymmetric designs and one mismatch which ranged from dark subtle hues to vibrant contrasts.

11 years on and Nike tap Hiroshi Fujiwara for a reissue of their Beijing pair in the midst of the Dunk resurgence – with slight updated tweaks.

The 2010 pair featured inversion colour placements but dressed in the same coulourway, whereas the 2021 pair is dressed in the same place and colour on both feet. The upcoming release utilises a darker red purple whilst the 2010 had a cooler hue to it. Furthermore, the reissue includes a black outsole and signature fragment text on the midsole while in contrast, the predecessor had an all white midsole and outsole and excluded the text. However, both pairs have similarities with the Fragment Design 2 bolt logo on the heel.

Returning 15 years later, this release recreates that makeup by covering the Air Jordan 7 in contrasting hues of Flint Grey and Court Purple. Other familiar details include nubuck quarter panels, white leather overlays, a multi-print tongue and a matte-finished outsole.

The Air Jordan 1 High has been the beloved cut for many collectors and fans alike ever since its release. However, throughout the years, Jordan Brand have released Mid & Low cut iterations and as of late have been shown some high volume of interests from consumers.

This up and coming launch of the AJ1 Mid & Low is a nod to the importance that coaches play in the lives of athletes. The bond between coach and athlete goes a long way in order for them to strive.

Both pairs utilise a host of different materials with the AJ1 Mids featuring a tumbled summit white underlay as its canvas. The overlays are dressed in brighter hues such as the heel and toe using blue and orange, respectively. The mudguard and Swoosh both feature the popular elephant print in yellow and White, whereas suede is found on the toe box and ankle collar.

Similarly, the AJ1 Low mirrors its Mid counterpart to a degree, though in a much more toned down way. Still utilising blue and orange on the respective placements, the materials used on the low is a combination of leather and mesh featured on the ankle collar. In replacement of the elephant print Swoosh, the low used an iridescent white colour. Perfect for the coming summer season.
