Nike Air VaporMax Plus By Lou Matheron | Now Available

Last year, Nike invited locals in New York City, London, Paris, Seoul, Shanghai, and Tokyo to design their own Nike Air Max inspired by the uniqueness of their communities. From these “On Air” workshops, 18 finalists were chosen based on the creative executions of their designs. The public then voted on six winners, one per city, which included Lou Matheron from Paris.

Matheron, a photographer, chose the Air VaporMax Plus and was inspired by the “works-in-progress” nature of construction in Paris.

“There are so many wonderful buildings and places in my city, which is always moving and evolving,”she says. “I wanted the shoe to be fun and playful, that’s why you can switch the Swoosh and wear the strap or not like a shoe under construction.”

The impact of the project isn’t lost on Matheron. “It’s incredible to think that I just designed a shoe for one of the biggest brands in the world,”she says. “I kept thinking, ‘Is this really happening to me?’ It gave me a lot of confidence for my future, as I realized that anything is possible, and you shouldn’t stay in your comfort zone.”

For Matheron, the benefit of an experience like “On Air” is also about expanding one’s horizons. “‘On Air’ truly opened my perspective and allowed me to meet incredible people and travel,”she says. “I was truly amazed by how much support I received. This experience brought me new professional opportunities but also broadened my state of mind.”

The Nike Air VaporMax Plus By Lou Matheron is Now Available online and Footpatrol Paris. Sizes range from UK6 – UK12 (including half sizes), priced at £190. (225€)

Converse x Footpatrol ‘Jack Purcell & CT 70 High’ | Now Available

With the Converse Chuck Taylor being one of the most universal shoes of all time, it can be easy to overlook the shoe’s humble beginnings. Originally starting out as a rubber manufacturer, Converse quickly turned their sights to the sporting world and began producing footwear for athletes.

In 1922 the classic high top silhouette caught the attention of semi-pro basketball player, Charles ‘Chuck’ Taylor, who approached Converse with some design ideas. After a quick redesign (which included adding Taylor’s signature to the heel-tab), the Chuck Taylor was ready to hit the courts.

In order to get in on the feet of the right people, Converse and Taylor went around America to schools, colleges and gyms teaching people the fundamentals of basketball. Converse quickly became synonymous with the sport, however overtime they began to transcend this perception and speak to a much wider audience. Converse began to represent Americana and personify the collegiate background it came from, influencing generations to come.

For our Spring collection with Converse we wanted to tap into this history, and produce something that felt truly authentic. To do this we channeled the aesthetic of vintage collegiate wear and Americana, in various different ways throughout the collab.

The Converse x Footpatrol Chuck 70 is constructed with an asymmetrical loopback fleece and satin panelled upper, to resemble that of sportswear warm up apparel. The silver eyelets are a reference to the popper fastenings found on coach jackets.

Other details such as the ‘Converse Rubber Shoe Co’ branding on the heel, embroidered Converse badge and co-branded heal label, all of which are throwbacks to vintage Converse models.

In our collection we have also included the Converse Jack Purcell model, which was first introduced to the world by a Canadian badminton player of the same name, in 1935.

Similar to the Chuck 70, the Converse x Footpatrol Jack Purcell also features an asymmetrical upper featuring loopback and woollen materials in a two-tone greyscale. Continuing with the reference to apparel, the Purcell is a nod to the sweats worn off the court.

Leather trim around the tongue continues the varsity theme paying homage to the leather sleeves opposing the woollen body. The lateral side features a patch overlay as a nod to the construction of a varsity jacket.

To sit alongside the two pieces of footwear we have produced a co-branded Split Pullover Hoodie. In keeping with the theme of the collection, the hoodie has been constructed using contrasting material, which not only carries the vintage aesthetic, but means it can also be worn inside out.

The Converse x Footpatrol Spring Collection will be available Saturday 6th April at 12:00AM on Footpatrol.com, and in-store from Saturday 6th April at Footpatrol London and Paris.

The Converse x Footpatrol footwear & apparel is Now Available in-store and online, priced between £80 – £110.

Converse x Footpatrol ‘Jack Purcell & CT 70 Hi’ | Now Available

03.04.19 General

This Spring, we’ve partnered with Converse to present a vintage take on collegiate sportswear, referencing iconic American sports for two interpretations of Converse’s most celebrated silhouettes – the Chuck 70 and Jack Purcell.

As two sneakers that enjoy a history in sport and have since been adopted across cultures. They each feature a multi-panel construction, and are crafted in colours and textures emblematic of an authentic collegiate aesthetic.

The collection draws direct inspiration from off-court basketball and sportswear apparel worn by coaches and players. The aim is to underscore what it means to be a team player in many aspects of life.

The Chuck 70, a modern ode to the Chuck Taylor All-Star, is constructed with an asymmetrical loopback fleece and satin paneled upper that resembles warm up apparel.

As a silhouette with deliberate nuances and acute attention to detail, it hosts hidden discovery elements, such as its contrast silver eyelets, which nod to the popper fastenings found on coach jackets, and a transparent graphic basketball outsole, which pays homage to the shoe’s sport history.

Similarly, the Jack Purcell, originally released as a badminton shoe in 1933, features an asymmetrical upper with loopback and wool materials. The build is reminiscent of the construction of a varsity jacket with leather hints and pops of color and hosts the ever-recognizable ‘smile’ on the toecap, a quintessential feature of the silhouette.

Completing the collection, a split pullover hoodie, constructed from elements seen in the sneaker silhouettes and intended for reversible wear with chest and back panel branding.

The Converse x Footpatrol ‘Jack Purcell, CT70 and Split Pullover Hoodie’ will be available online Saturday 6th April at 12:00AM (midnight) and in-store at Footpatrol London and Paris from 10AM.

The Converse x Footpatrol footwear & apparel is Now Available in-store and online, priced between £80 – £110.

Global sports brand PUMA and Jannik Davidsen, Creative Director and Founder of Han Kjøbenhavn gave a first look at the all-new Alteration sneaker during the Han Kjøbenhavn’s Autumn-Winter ’19 show in Paris. Seen on the post-apocalyptic inspired runway was the new Alteration PN-1, designed by Davidsen.

Inspired by a post-apocalyptic world, Alteration PN-1 is an unexpected unity of two very different perspectives, while the upper gets a simplistic expression and structure referencing Copenhagen’s outskirts, the sole is a futuristic vision of wavy disproportions and bulky shapes.

New to Footpatrol: Salomon Brand | Now Available

Future at Play.

Established in the heart of the French Alps in 1947, performance-minded sportswear label Salomon was born in a one-room metalworking shop where François Salomon crafted saw blades alongside his wife and son.

The family shifted their focus to fabricating metal edges for skis, and soon expanded further into mountain sports. Today, the brand continues to combine advanced material research and performance testing to provide technically sound, meticulously engineered solutions for performance footwear.

In the following decades, the brand expanded into hiking, and in the 2000s became a leading trail running label, introducing shoes like the Speedcross.

Today, Salomon shoes are already available at prestigious fashion retailers such as DSM, Totokaelo, Machine-A, The Broken Arm, Antonioli, Gr8, and the online retailer SSENSE.

Salomon´s lifestyle project started in 2015 when the Parisian high end fashion boutique Broken Arm made a unique variation of the Snowcross winter running shoe dubbed ‘The Black Edition’. The Broken Arm has been Salomon´s partner ever since. The brand also developed a tight partnership with Boris Bidjan Saberi, a renowned fashion designer and member of the Chambre masculine of the Federation Française de la Couture. Some of the most sought forshoes of Salomon’s lifestyle offering, e.g. the Odyssey Mid, originate from this unique collaboration.

This collection includes select models from Salomon brand including the S/LAB XT6, XT-4, and XT-Quest. The upper is made of a durable mesh which is seam free. This upper is breathable (not waterproof) and very tough. Welded to the upper is Salomon’s Sensifit system. This has been designed to hold your foot in place without creating hotspots or pressure points. The Sensifit system consists of specifically shaped, TPU overlays which are welded to the mesh upper. They are very flat and essentially become part of the upper itself.

when fashion re-contextualizes concepts from other worlds it often ruins them. But Salomon has engaged with the trend just enough to ensure that the sneakers stay true to their fine-tuned function. Though fashion is still not a huge priority for the brand, it is having an impact on other product categories and has created quite the appetite.

Nike Air Max 90 QS ‘Mars Landing’ | Launch Event Recap

24.03.19 General

To celebrate Nike’s latest space exploration and the follow-up to the 2011 Air Max 90 ‘Moon Landing’, we teamed up with Nike and Breaks Agency to present the Footpatrol Space Agency. The goal of the event was to provide consumers with an immersive experience, and transport them to Mars for the evening.

We did this by working closely with Nike and Breaks to create a sensory experience, that took attendees on a journey through the Red Planet (only with more beer and better music). Guests were greeted by a rocky terrain and a starkly lit ‘Briefing Room’, where they received their standard issue Footpatrol Space Agency goggles, mask and mission briefing.

Red lighting set the tone in the main area, which also featured a DJ setup, a bar and FP Space Agency safe, that had landed in a pool of magma on a previous mission. When opened the safe displayed a pair of the Max 90 Mars Landings and QR code that attendees could scan, in order to enter themselves into our Mars Landing raffle.

The event space also included a gallery featuring our photos of the Mars Landing as well as a smoke filled room, where attendees were able to immerse themselves fully in the unusual weather patterns of the Red Planet.

We would like to thank Nike and Breaks Agency for working with us to make this happen, as well as everyone who showed their support and attended the event!
