After the release of several women’s exclusive releases on the Nike Dunk silhouette, Nike doesn’t seem to be slowing down on that front.
This latest release is reminiscent of the Nike Dunk Low ‘Orange Pearl’ that launched in mid-March with similar hues, however, the forthcoming pair indulges in a smooth leather construction across its upper, with bases boasting an off-white ensemble. Crimson Tint overlays take up this version with signature collar wings, Nike branding on the tongue and white midsole to complete the model in time for the summer season.

Frequent collaborators, sacai and Nike return once again to reimagine one their iconic silhouettes. Whenever Chitose Abe and sacai approach a collaboration, there is a distinct need to create something new and exciting whilst also paying respect the heritage that comes with the chosen silhouette.
Though we’ve seen the duo use the Blazer silhouette in previous collaborations, Chitose Abe brings a new approach by slicing the top off to reimagine a Blazer Low that features a leather upper with exposed foam liners. This latest coming together keeps the best of those previous iterations with sacai’s signature design touches like the stacked swooshes, tongues and double lacing.

The return of the dunk continues! This time around, Nike return with two new colour ways exclusively for the women. Featuring both a low and a high, the two colour way options couldn’t be any further apart.
On the one hand, the Low, you have a bright vibrant burst of ‘Laser Orange’ that dominates the upper sitting against the traditional stark white base. Then you have the High, the High takes things back to the more simplistic approach. After launching earlier in the year in a Low, the High takes on a monochrome approach of utilising just a black and white combination.

Ever since 1982, the Nike Air Force 1 has been a staple within the Nike from basketball to lifestyle and pop culture. Seen as one of the all-time silhouettes, the Air Force 1 low and high have be subjected to countless updated iterations, whether that be retros, new colourways, collaborations, PE’s to a complete overhaul, the AF1 is continues to be a canvas for new ideas.
The up and coming release is a testament to that with a 2 pair launch. Referencing the name-tag ensemble, one pair is dressed in a predominantly white premium leather, with black outline around the patent Swoosh as well as “HELLO” on the heel. For an added pop of colour, red detailing is used on the outsole, lining and heel tab but a standout feature is above the midsole which wraps around the shoe.
The second pair dons a more subtle approach with an almost monochrome aesthetic in all black. The Swoosh features a patent black look along with a white outline. Further white detailing is seen on the “HELLO” displayed on the heel just like its counterpart, on the midsole and branding. Moreover, both pairs utilize the hello tag on the tongue and insole.

Ever since 2014, Javier has been keeping himself busy, cementing himself within the streetwear scene of L.A. Originally studying Fashion Design at L.A Trade-Tech, Javier was eating a grilled cheese when he spotted Jamal Gunn Becker, a local graffiti artist, walking through his campus. It was at that moment Javier stopped what he was doing, followed Jamal to find himself immersed in the world of Sign Painting. This split decision to follow Jamal Gunn Becker, later became his new path, he swapped courses and enrolled into what is one of the oldest courses run within the US.
As time has gone on, Javier has been able to become the go to guy when it comes to L.A. sign painting with his company Mid City Signs. Besides the usual store fronts such as FTP and Midnight studios, Javier has even worked on Coachella and Camp Flog Gnaw.
During a visit we made to Complexcon 2018, we stumbled across Javier and Mid City Signs instantly falling in love with what they do and how they go about doing it. A laid back approach filled with friendly smiles and welcoming hellos is what makes Mid City Signs what it is working perfectly with the city’s way of life.
To be able to showcase Javier’s work we reached out to him to work together alongside Vans to produce a three piece collaboration inspired by the L.A. shop fronts.
Starting off with the Vans Era LX. The loudest pair of the pack, we pieced together a series of Mid City Signs designed lettering and branded footbed, this pair is built to stand out against the rest. The shoe also features a vulcanised glossy cream midsole with paint splatters on the outsole.
Second in line is the fan favourite Vans Old Skool LX. Based more so on the sign painting process and the half finished job. Referencing the stencilling used to prep the lettering we added tonal branding to the toe box, whilst making the stripes featured on the sidewalls cream. As a nod to the trial & error method used by sign painters when selecting a typeface and the early days of old school Vans customs, the midsole comes with a series of differently designed Footpatrol branding.
The Final piece to our colourful puzzle with Vans brings up to the more subtly designed, Vans Sid LX. To recreate the dusty paint covered sheets used, this pair is dressed in cream toned paint flecked canvas uppers placed on top of a contrasting black midsole. Besides making the sole stand out against the upper, the trim lines that are showcased on the shoe have also been filled to contrast against the midsole and placed alongside a series of paint splatters.
To be able to create an authentic feel to the campaign we asked Javier to take us on a day in the life of Mid City Signs walking us through his journey, some of the spots he’s worked on across L.A. and share with us his view on where he sees Mid City Sign going.

Nike have never done things by halves when its come to celebrating the animal kingdom so for their latest in long the long line of Dunks, they once again look back to this animal theme with the ‘Giraffe’.
Although much more subtle compared to their other animal inspired efforts, this latest Nike Dunk features a soft palette of brown hues from top to bottom. A rough suede makes up the most part of the upper and it’s here where you’ll find that subtle giraffe print. This sits above a creamy soft leather whilst a contrasting swaps makes its way around the heel, matching the lining.
