On foot at Notting Hill Carnival

21.09.26 General

This year, Footpatrol joined the Carnival energy alongside Steeze Factory and King SSP Sound, bringing friends, family and the wider Footpatrol community together on Southern Row. The day was all about the things that make Carnival what it is: heavy riddims, familiar faces, new generations, and a whole lot of movement.

And, naturally, we kept an eye on what was on foot. Documenting the Footpatrol community throughout the day was Arron Watson-MacNab, turning his lens towards the silhouettes making their way through the crowds.

adidas Adizero F50 Tunit x JAH JAH Studio

A fitting choice for a day where cultures meet in the streets, the F50 TUNIT comes from adidas’ football archive, originally designed around a modular approach that allowed players to customise elements of the boot. In JAH JAH Studio’s hands, that performance heritage becomes something much more street-facing. Dressed mainly in bold emerald green, the pitch-adjacent glossy upper promotes JAH JAH’s Afro-Caribbean influences through 3-Stripe detailing.

adidas Originals Megaride AG x Footpatrol

Employing a monochromatic lens on the retro-futurist model, the adidas x Footpatrol collaboration sees the Megaride wrapped in varying black hues with mixed-material uppers that combine breathable mesh, rubberised overlays and a premium leather lacing chamber. Reflective accents illuminate the laces and signature 3-Stripes while FP’s Gasmask logo works itself across the tongue, sidewall and footbed, cementing the partnership without disrupting the shoe’s aesthetic.

Nike T90 Mule x Kids of Immigrants

The Kids of Immigrants x Nike T90 Mule brings football heritage into a distinctly community-led setting. Reworking Nike’s iconic T90 football boot into a mule, the collaboration takes inspiration from the chancleta – a familiar, everyday shoe with roots across immigrant communities. Suede and patent leather form the upper, while the removable lace-cover tongue and cork footbed shift the T90 towards an easy summer silhouette, with its football origins still firmly intact.

Nike Air Max 95 x Levi’s

The Nike Air Max 95 x Levi’s reimagines the legendary silhouette through a denim-drenched lens. Paying homage to Levi’s rugged heritage and Air Max’s visible comfort, this collaborative sneaker showcases layered textures with frayed edges on the 14oz black denim uppers, which will wear over time, mimicking a pair of Levi’s jeans. Further down, the Waffle outsole features exclusive Levi’s touches – hits of red on the shank plates that match up to the Levi’s Red Tab on the quarter panels and co-branded sockliners.

Air Jordan 4 ‘Yellow Thunder’ & ‘Red Thunder’

Putting two of the AJ4’s most recognisable colourways side by side, we spotted the ‘Yellow Thunder’ and ‘Red Thunder’ on foot. The Thunder family has always been about contrast, with the Jordan 4’s black base providing the perfect backdrop for flashes of colour. A mismatched approach that feels right at home among the colour, energy and individuality of Carnival.

New Balance 991v2 Made in UK

The meticulously made New Balance 991 Made in UK pushed the lineage forward with a more contemporary take on the familiar layered runner aesthetic. Technical-looking panels, a streamlined shape and that unmistakable New Balance approach to cushioning make it an easy choice for a day spent putting serious miles into the pavement over the weekend.

Air Jordan 4 ‘Black Cat’

Originally launched in 2006 and reissued in 2020, the Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Black Cat’ is inspired by MJ’s panther-like court presence. Built from black nubuck leather, the upper maintains signature features, like net-inspired windows, moulded eyestays and wings, while graphite matte finishes add a luxe touch. For the final touch, a glossy Nike Air logo stamps the heel, a notable change from the original Jumpman, which still graces the tongue.

Nike x G-Dragon PEACEMINUSONE Kwondo 1 ‘Panda’

A slightly left-field pick for Notting Hill Carnival, the Nike x G-Dragon PEACEMINUSONE Kwondo 1 ‘Panda’ brings a dressier edge to the streets. Inspired by traditional brogue footwear, its black-and-white leather upper, perforated detailing, and oversized lace shroud make for a silhouette that’s a little removed from the usual Carnival rotation. But with its unmistakable PEACEMINUSONE detailing and G-Dragon’s unconventional approach to footwear, that’s arguably the point.
