Ask TEAMFP London | Che

22.09.21 General

With the stores now back open and back in full swing, we revisit ‘Ask TEAMFP‘ which if you weren’t aware, you’ll be able to find live on our website.

In an effort to bring you, the community closer to our team, we’ll be introducing you to a few familiar faces you’re likely to see on your store visits. It’s these team members that will be heading up the service and will be on hand to offer you in-depth looks into product, in-store sizing guidance and styling advice whilst also being able to offer you a greater insight into our local community of Soho.

This week, we meet Che. One of the newer members to TEAMFP and to London, Che was born and raised in New Zealand so as well blue skies (hopefully), she also brings with her knowledge of the NZ street culture and what it has to offer.

FP: To start things off, tell us a bit about yourself and where you’re from?

Che: Born and raised in New Zealand, but have recently moved to London to see what it has to offer.

FP: Where would you say you got your style influences from?

Che: Ummm I just like to wear anything comfortable or baggy I guess. You could say I take influence from street/skate wear

FP: Who is your most listened to artist right now?

Che: Isaiah Rashad and Hiatus Kaiyote

FP: Favourite shoe?

Che: Atm the Gundam x Nike Dunk. Excited for a new anime collab. Love the design with interchangeable swoosh and stickers that come with it. Reminds me of when I used to build the figurines as a kid.

FP: If you had to pick one brand to wear, what would it be and why?

Che: Recently I’ve been into Willy Chavarria, a sick brand and designer.

FP: Can you explain the benefits of the Ask Team FP service?.

Che: I think it’s a cool way to introduce the team to the public as I know the sneakers game can seem quite exclusive. Especially to newer sneaker collectors like myself.

FP: Top 3 pairs you own?

Che: Dunk Low Plum, Missy Elliott Superstar 35th anniversary, Aleali May AJ14

FP: If you had to pick one place to get food in the area where would you recommend?

Che: Bao soho

FP: What’s the most common question you hear when you’re with a customer?

Che: “Any uncollected raffles?” Hahaha

Split Screens | Nike Air Max BW with Keep Hush

19.09.21 General

Travelling back in time to the 90’s, Nike was running the scene with its visible Air units whilst continuing to explore the boundaries and push them as far as they could. With Tinker Hatfield at the drawing board crafting the Air Max line, one of those stand outs silhouettes was the Nike Air Max BW.

Having first launched way back in 1991, this particular Air Max was first branded ‘Air Max IV’ however, due to its over exaggerated visible Air Unit, it quickly started to become known as ‘Big Window’ which quickly led to it becoming known as ‘BW’ here on out.

Now set to return for 2021 in one of its three OG colourways, the ‘Persian Violet’, the Air Max BW returns once again with it its revolutionary coupling of Air and extremely plush, foamy midsole and its angular design that made this past runner, an eye catching one.

Celebrating the return of the Nike Air Max BW with Keep Hush, we put together a group of mad scientists to create the series “split screen”, M.I.C, Nia Archives, Elheist and WIZE. Stay tuned for more information to come!

Soulful singer and Jungle artist Nia Archives has been bringing a new flavour to the music scene. Hailing from Leeds and discovering her passion to be an artist, Nia came to London in 2019 where she has been paving her way to greatness with some of her remixes and production. As an extension to the journeys Nia likes to take her listeners on with her music, she also pieces together engaging visuals that produce a sensory overload for any listener.

Supplying endless amounts of energy to any room he enters. M.I.C otherwise known as the Master of Inane Conversation is a talent in himself (We haven’t even got on to his music yet!). Powerful lyricism, self-expression, prejudices – There isn’t a topic he doesn’t cover. Using his music for more than a tool for enjoyment, but as a piece that helps spread awareness 1 track at a time.

Breaking her way into the scene in 2018. Elheist has been making waves through NTS and her powerful vocals. Writing and producing her own work that creates a distinctive sound Elheist manages to bring crowds to any occasion with music that makes a room all simultaneously move their heads. Put it this way – get in your car, put your headphones on or plug in that AUX and give ‘Done Talking’ a listen. You’ll know what we mean.

A high class operator in the world of mash ups. Wize otherwise known as Wize the Producer has been on the scene creating eclectic productions for artists such as Krept and Konan, Yxng Bane and D-Block Europe. As for his mash ups, well let just say the man knows how to make an old track sound new by isolating the vocals from old school UK freestyles and supplying mesmerising beats for his listeners all under his alias WIZE Edits.

In the mean time, the online raffle for the Nike Air Max BW is now live!

FP: Where would you say you got your style influences from?

FP: Who is your most listened to artist right now?

Alice: Embarrassingly, Kanye.

Footpatrol x adidas EQT Running Support ’93 | Raffle Closed!

13.09.21 General

Besides the no-nonsense approach taken by adidas with the product design, the same vision was carried through the colour palette. With distinctive design. Came a distinctive colour palette that even in 2021 is still just as recognisable within the community. This grey, white, black and green have been used across the entirety of its range, including apparel.

At Footpatrol, when we think of equipment. We think outdoors. The preparation, the planning, the reliance on what you bring and of course the longevity of a product. Once that is taken care of you then take notice and appreciation of your surrounding area that you find yourself immersed in.

To best tell that story, we look at the UK’s three highest mountains to supply us with the main inspiration for Footpatrol’s take on the Support 93. Studying and indulging ourselves in the different types of sedimentary strata found in each location. We discovered an abundance of beautiful yet subtle colours embedded into the terrain which naturally felt like the direction needed to produce a harmonious shoe. Fusing technical outdoor materials like TPU and rubber segment, we looked to pair that alongside additional materials such as nylons, pink meshes and soft to touch suedes. These design cues paired with more traditional components and classic outdoor colour pops to solidify the look. We wanted to create that joint vision of reliability and beauty within this design.

As a final addition to the design of this collaborative project. We also worked on a fully embroidered Footpatrol Gasmask and EQT heel piece to create a higher quality finish and a hidden detail on the medial stripes of the midsole noting the heights of each of the 3 Great British peaks.

Knowledge is key and within the sneaker world, it has always been at the forefront. With EQTs extensive history and whilst stocks last! We will also be including an adidas EQT Consortium book that not only gives you insight into the range and its origins but also exclusive designer interviews surrounding the processes and ideas behind each collaboration.

Nike LDWaffle x sacai x CLOT ‘Orange Blaze’ | Raffle Closed!

06.09.21 General

With the continuation between Nike and Chitose Abe’s Japanese fashion label Sacai, this year has seen the duo return once again to their LDWaffle silhouette. After briefly leaving the silhouette alone and concentrating on the likes of the VaporWaffle and the revisit of the Blazer, sacai have once again turned their attention back to the LDWaffle whilst also inviting a third collaborator to the table to bring their unique takes to the even more unique shoe.

After linking up with Jordan brand and Travis Scott for a three way collaboration, Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment Design was the first one of these partners to come on board and now, we get a chance to look at the latest and its none other than streetwear favourite, CLOT.

Still featuring that iconic double up of everything from the Swoosh, to the laces and down to the tongue, CLOT bring one of the most dramatic changes to the silhouette with the change in materials. Where the mesh usually sits across the toe, this has been scrapped and in its place is now a semi translucent ripstop like material which pays a slight tribute to their iconic Air Max 1 and its fully translucent toe box. Along this, signature dual branded touches appear to the tongue and heel whilst the overlaid Swoosh now appears in a snake skin. Sure to be a collaboration to remember, get your entries in below for your chance to purchase!

Nike ACG Air Mowabb ‘Rattan Birch’ & ‘Gravity Purple’ | Available Now!

02.09.21 General

1991 was a small but good year for vintage wines, they say. Just like those vintage wines, the Mowabb was just as good if not better.

This Tinker Hatfield designed masterpiece is dubbed the brand’s best and most successful hybrid running/trail shoes. Tinker wanted to work on a project like this to see how much he could get away with in terms of design elements. Fusing pieces from the Huarache bootie, which was also released that year (1991), and the Nike Wildwood. It created a whole new feeling of enjoyment when wearing a hiking shoe. Lightweight, supportive and cushioned all in one glorious mix!

During the early days of ACG, Nike reps would take frequent trips to Moab, Utah to test new ACG products, putting them to the test in a range of hard wearing outdoor activities. Moab, with its wide variety of terrain and heritage that it holds, helped influence Tinker more with the design process with colours and also the name of the shoe itself. Starting with concepting a Native American inspired moccasin.

Between 1991 and 1992 the Mowabb had a minor design change when releasing their Limited Editions line. The once plain sock bootie with ACG branding on the ankles changed from the ‘91 OG was later adapted to don the Huarache logo and ‘Air Mowabb’ motif most popularly seen on the OG ‘Gravity Purple pair from ‘92.

To celebrate this anniversary. Nike has brought back 2 colour ways to tickle your taste buds! Making another comeback, the OG ‘Birch’ colourway paired with its classic blue and orange collar. And the long-awaited return of the ‘Gravity Purple’ which hasn’t seen the light of day since its initial release in the 90s! Both bearing the ACG ankle branding, there have also been some new additions to the designs itself. Both being bestowed with additional pull tabs to improve accessibility and mini swoosh detailing on the lateral part of each toe box.

Launching online on Friday 3rd September (Available online from 08:00AM BST), priced at £145.
