Air Jordan 1 Mid ‘Día de Muertos’ | Raffle Closed!

13.11.20 General

As the Air Jordan 1 High’s speak for themselves, the Mid iteration of the classic silhouette has carved a lane for itself in recent times. In 2019, Jordan Brand created a ‘Fearless’ collection that was community based and releases such as Maison Chateau Rouge and Blue the Great were sought after. This in turn became an apparent indication that the Mid versions could do as well as the highs.

Nike have shed light on different cultures for years and in particular Mexican heritage has been heavily influenced in their products such as Air Force 1 and Dunks respectively. In addition, the Oregon based sports brand have curated products celebrating Día de Muertos which is a Mexican holiday translating into ‘Day of the Dead’ for many years. This time around they focus on the Air Jordan 1 Mid as one of their canvases.

The latest version is dressed in a vibrant three-tone colour scheme rooted in traditional floral offends or alters. Replicating the colours, patterns and crafted detailing of the handmade artwork and flowers laid out by loved ones of those who have transitioned. Featuring in a combination of magenta and white leather on the upper, yellow takes the heel collar, Wings logo and Swoosh. Further yellow detailing is present along the upper through deconstructed stitching as well as on the tongue tab sat on top of a white mesh tongue.  A personal touch is ‘FAMILIA’ displayed across the side of the toe in yellow too. To complete the celebratory release is a white midsole, magenta outsole and black wax laces.
