Robi Walters x Footpatrol Communi T | Available Now!
Based in London, Robi Walters has caught the public eye over the last decade with his vision and transformation of discarded objects creating new leases of life in lovingly pieced together collages. He has produced pieces for people such as Usain Bolt, Major Lazer’s Diplo, Jillioniare and has even collaborated with Mary J. Blige and Sir Paul McCartney.
Long time Footpatrol friend and Soho neighbour – Robi Walters’ gallery & studio space is found within the heart of Soho. We first met Robi in 2015 when he moved opposite the Footpatrol Store on Berwick Street before he later moved round the corner to Ingestre Place where his gallery now resides. Upholding the Soho community spirit we felt that this was a good reason to work alongside Robi to produce our latest Communi-T instalment.
For the t-shirt, Robi has hand-drawn one of his signature sketches, based on sacred geometry and the thousand petalled lotus. These drawings feature in a series of his work called ‘We Are Stardust’. All of Robi’s pieces are named after songs. This particular title is taken from the lyrics of a well-loved Joni Mitchell song, ‘Woodstock’.
Music has always been a huge influence on Robi and his artwork. To celebrate the launch of this project and the return of live music, we’re featuring a performance by IG Culture and his band LCSM (Likwid Continual Space Motion) – a live stream session in Robi’s studio curated by Leanne Wright. Robi will also be giving us insight into how the project began and the design concept and as well as talking about the charitable side of this campaign as we partner with London youth charity ‘Grow’. The proceeds from this release will be going towards expanding their excellent programming from their community farm, forest school and the work they do in schools to promote mental and physical well being and a more hands-on relationship with the natural world.
It wouldn’t be a special project though if there wasn’t a seriously exclusive element to this one-of-a-kind launch. As an addition to the tees designed by Robi, he has also hand-painted a series of 1of 5 custom Footpatrol T-shirts and 5 pairs of Converse that will be available for raffle live on Robi’s site soon! Four of the Converse and four of the T-shirts will be available via a raffle on Robi’s website (tickets will be £10 and £5 respectively with proceeds going to ‘Grow’ charity), make sure to check it out on the link below.
