Footpatrol Staff Pick of the Year

30.12.18 General

2018 was a fantastic year for trainers. From high-profile collaborations to slept on in-line releases, brands were continually pushing the boundaries of sneaker design and technology.

To celebrate the New Year and to wrap up a strong year for sneaker releases Team FP have chosen their top picks of 2018. Check them out below…

George, Social Media Executive – Nike Air Zoom Spiridon ‘GMT Pack’

“I’m a big fan of the Spiridon and I love the way that the GMT pack elevated the silhouette. The blend of materials, the colour palette and the details are all really unique for Spiridon’s and help take the shoe to an interesting place creatively. It doesn’t hurt that I picked them up in the sale for half of retail either…”

Matt, Store Manager – Air Jordan 1 ‘Bred Toe’

“You can’t beat a classic, and the Bred Toe is a combination of two! Ever since these came out they’re been a regular in my rotation and have become my favourite beaters.”

Eddie, Supervisor – Nike Air Force 1

“I know they’re technically not a new release but all White Air Force 1’s will be my pick every year. Sometimes it’s just better to keep things simple…”

Tom, Multichannel Writer/Photographer – ASICS x Harmony Gel-Venture 6

“The first collaboration between ASICS and Harmony has to be my favourite of the year. No elaborate branding, just neutral greys with a nice set of laces.”

Fynn, Sales Assistant – adidas YEEZY 700 ‘Waverunner’

“After seeing the Yeezy 700 ‘Waverunner’ teased absolutely everywhere online I was pretty excited to finally get them in-hand. The colours work so well with the 700 shape and the subtle hits of frozen yellow really help the shoe stand out.”

Montana, Sales Assistant – UNDERCOVER x Nike React Element 87

“My favourite release of 2018 is the UNDERCOVER x Nike React Element 87. I’m a big fan of the translucent upper and the forward-thinking design is a nice contrast to the more retro models that Nike have brought back through the year.”

Wilson, Creative Photographer – Nike Airmax 98 ‘Gundam’

“After a bunch of first time retros from Nike in 2018, the Air Max 98 ‘Gundam’ stood out for me. There’s a mixture of nostalgia as well as the combination of blue hues and hits of red that played out perfect.”

Thomas, Sales Assistant – Nike React Element 87 ‘Sail/Light Bone’

“The first iteration of a new shoe is always something special and the Nike React Element 87 was no different. The colours, the materials, the mad comfy React sole unit – everything works so well together. I’ve hardly taken them off this year.”

Sam, Marketing and PR Manager – adidas Consortium x Footpatrol 4D Runner

The Footpatrol x adidas Consortium 4D Runner is one of my picks of the year. Its looks are something of the future, the colour of the upper works perfect with the 4D printed midsole, the comfort is unparalleled to anything else on the market right now. Plus we had lots of fun launching these at London Design Festival earlier this year!
