adidas come together once again with Japan’s BEDWIN AND THE HEARTBREAKERS, as this selection of footwear illustrates clean and stylish takes on some classic, and some not so classic adidas styles.

The footwear collection is inherently Spring, with whites, yellows and creams featuring throughout the styles. From the ZX500 mid, including a gentle cream throughout, with touches of red, to this Summer’s favourite tennis shoe ,the Stan Smith – featuring splatters of blue and red, the collection as a whole is a strong one. Away from the more classic of adidas style though, comes a Desert Chukka, Loafer and Zip-up DVS Mid. These styles find themselves adapting fabrics such as leather and suede, in vibrant hues of yellow, to deep blacks and touches of contrasting white. 

Naturally, with knowledge of BEDWIN’s previous roster in mind, all styles included within the collection are of the highest of quality and offer an alternate approach to notable adidas products.

The adidas x BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS SS14 Footwear Collection is due to release in-store and online Saturday 18th April. Sizes range from UKXX – UKXX (Including Half Sizes), with prices range from £XX – £XX.

Following last month’s introduction to Jordan Brands newest offerings, the basketball brand is back with this vibrant edition of the Air Jordan Future Premium QS.

A month has passed and Jordan brand are already introducing their third colourway of the new silhoutte, the Air Jordan Future Premium. Gone are the 3M reflective accents on the upper which have now been replaced with a multicoloured woven upper featuring colours such as ‘Hyper Crimson’ and ‘Pure Platinum’. Gold coloured metal lace tips can be seen on the black cord laces. A microfiber like material is used on the inner lining and ankle collar with the Jumpman logo featured on the leather embroidered tongue label and on the translucent outsole.

Fitting in perfect for the Easter holiday weekend the Air Jordan Future Premium ‘Multicolour’ is now SOLD OUT.

US based boutique Sneaker Politics are next up under Reebok’s Certified Network series with this ‘Cajun’ folklore inspired Insta Pump Fury dubbed the ‘Rougarou’.

Drawing inspiration from the Cajan beast that is the Rougarou, Sneaker Politics impressively apply this theme to Reebok’s Insta Pump Fury. Faux hair from the ‘werewof’ like creature features on the toe-box, running through to the tongue and heel. Keeping in-line with the mystical tone of the shoe is the black pump bag overlay, with green underlays adding constrast to the shoe. The green element continues on to the midsole which also features deep red splatter details, the final touch on the shoe is the striking red outsole.

Continuing the celebration of their 20th year anniversary silhouette the Instapump Fury OG, Reebok team up with Boston’s Bodgea and Tokyo’s Mita Sneakers under the ‘Certified Network’ moniker.

Never ones to shy away from the norm, Bodega apply a blend of colours and graphics on their intepretation of the Instapump Fury OG. The upper features a light beige toe-box running through to the tongue with teal coloured shaggy suede on the tip of the toe-box. The shaggy suede material also features in black on the heel. The grey pump bag construction fetaures a fade halftone pattern in white. Additional red and yellow accents can be seen throughout the silhouette. Bodega have designed a leopard print footbed with custom designed logo.

Tokyo’s Mita Sneakers take a more subtle approach with their Instapump Fury with a tonal upper. Adding depth to the silhouette is the knitted upper seen on the toe-box, tongue and heel. Orange accents feature on the tongue and heel pull-tabs with the white midsole adding contast to the model. The cable knit theme continues on the footbed with both brand logos featured in white.

Reebok revive the Pump Omni Lite with this throwback ‘Vintage’ edition for Spring ’14.

Worn by the Basketball legend Dee Brown, the Reebok Pump Omni Lite has stood the test of time as being one of the brands most popular silhouettes to date. For Spring ’14 Reebok draw back to their roots with this vintage inspired make up. Beginning with the upper, Reebok use soft white leather that will age well the more the shoe is worn. Complementing the leather panels are the navy and sandtrap orange accents seen on the heel, tongue, outsole etc. Super soft towel material is used on the inner lining and tongue backing provide the utmost comfort. The Pump inflation system still features on the tongue also, all sitting on a Herringbone  outsole with Reebok’s Hexalite technology embedded within the midsole for shock absorption.

Through a mutual love of Basketball, paris-based label Pigalle partner up with Nike creating their PPP Capsule collection for Spring ’14.

The Nike x PPP collection was born from the passion of Basketball – a sport that unites a community of diverse backgrounds as one. With this in mind, Pigalle approach the hand at task combining sport heritage with modern trends. The inspiration for the collection comes from Patination – a process in which a metal surface develops a thin layer of oxidized metal on its’ surface. This layer is called the Patina. The collection is interpreted in varnished and tie-dye treatments for an aged look.

The footwear model of choice is the timeless classic silhouette that is the Nike Air Force 1. Consisting of an AF1 Hi & Low Pigalle apply fine leathers using craft techniques found on the construction of Brogues. Cotton laces have been replaced with the leather kind & oversized gold eyelets are placed at the top. The leather uppers have been given a wax coating which will age over time accordingly. The translucent outsole adds the finishing touches to the footwear collection with an illustration of ‘strategic play’ used in Basketball games.

The Apparel collection consists of two Basketball kits (tank top and shorts), a cap and a Basketball. Again applying the Patina process, the black kit features the tie-dye process and the blue kit features a fade process. The diamond shaped Pigalle logo sits centered on the Tank Top and on the bottom left-hand corner of the shorts. The cap features Pigalle’s famous box logo with Nike Air replacing the word ‘Pigalle’ in their styled font. Finally a two-toned black and white Basketball with dual branded logos completes the sophisticated collection.

Nike revisit their Orbit silhouette with the release of Free Orbit II SP.

The Nike Free Orbit II SP has been updated for 2014 with the addition of the Free 5.0 outsole. Designed by the Nathan VanHook (designer of the Yeezy 2) the Free Orbit II SP features an impressive raised geometric designed upper and a concealed zip construction on the medial side panels with a series of coordinates can be seen debossed along the side. A small Nike swoosh features on the lateral side of the toe-box, with a mesh toe-box for added breathability.

New Balance teams up with Shelf Life and Dr. Zulu to put an African twist on the NB574.

The South African boutique Shelf Life enlisted local designer Dr. Zulu on their New Balance co-lab paying homage to their hometown of Johannesburg. Johannesburg got its ‘City of Gold’ moniker because of its huge gold trade. Accordingly their take on the 574 silhouette is made up of a black, grey & yellow colour scheme which doubles as a reference to the Jo’burg train system.

The uppers are constructed in a combination of mesh, nubuck and pigskin suede, with 3M on the heel panel which features some additional African-print detailing. Detachable velcro on the ‘N’ logo offers two colour options. Final details include a lacelock bearing an illustration of the legendary Parktown Prawn king cricket, a speckled yellow and black midsole and dual branded footbeds. 2 options of laces are available: black and grey.

adidas Originals look to breathe new life into one of their most classic silhouettes with the introduction of the Campus 80s Primeknit Pack.

Originally an on-court basketball sneaker, the Campus quickly found its way to the streets and into b-boy dance circles, gaining status as a hip-hop essential along with the Superstar. adidas now give the silhouette a renewed relevance with the application of their top line lightweight technology, Primeknit. By using different patterning in the knit upper, the shoe has retained its original lines and shape; the Campus’ original tooling is kept intact but it has been enhanced  with 21^st century materials, resulting in a lighter, more breathable and more detailed shoe.

The Campus returns for 2014 in its original colour combinations: grey, navy and burgundy, with contrasting white on the sole unit, midsection stripes and leather sockliner.
