The timeless classic Air Jordan IV has seen a few renditions in 2020 such as the long awaited return of the OG ‘Fire Red’ and collaborations with OFF-WHITE and Union LA respectively. For holiday 2020, Jordan Brand return with their latest release, a ‘Deep Ocean’ take on the popular model.

This latest release is inspired by Japanese craftwork and design, offering a ‘sashiko’ like pattern. Sashiko is a striking hand-sewing technique that originated in ancient Japan. In Japanese, its name means “little stabs”—a reference to the plain running stitch that makes up sashiko’s geometric, all-over patterns.

Dressed in a combination of canvas and twill materials assembled in quilt-like, patchwork fashion, the upper taps into a Deep Ocean hue, red patches feature around with white detailing stitched all over. Laces are mismatched to coincide with the patchwork theme, whilst the outsole is part translucent with red, blue and white.
