Air Jordan III x Fragment Design | Raffles Closed!

Heraled as the Godfather of Tokyo streetwear since the 90’s, Fragment founder Hiroshi Fujiwara, has also been a mainstay within Nike’s collaborative creative helm since 2002. As part of the 3-headed monster alongside Tinker Hatfield and former Nike CEO Mark Parker, the mission statement behind HTM is to amplify new innovations, reinterpret existing designs and explore concepts that take the Nike brand to new places.

Since then, Hiroshi has put a stamp on a slew of Nike silhouettes from the Air Force 1 to the Sock Darts and many more. In 2014, Hiroshi took the opportunity to create his own Air Jordan 1, and consumers took to it like a moth to a flame. Essentially, an iteration of the popular ‘Black Toe’ colour way, the Fragment version featured the signature blue hue many are accustomed to Hiroshi’s brand. However, it featured premium leather and the 2 Fragment lightning bolts to cement its place as one of the most coveted pairs in recent times.

Beginning of 2020, images of Hiroshi wearing a pair of White and Black Air Jordan III’s surfaced and fans immediately speculated a potential collaboration. Fast-forward months later and an official release is up and coming. This AJIII rounds out the Fragment x Jordan collaboration by applying Fujiwara’s attention to detail to one of the most beloved Jordan silhouettes. The black and white ‘Orca’ colour scheme plays on his earlier Nike work, while a fully spelt-out SKU on the midsole draws a connection between the art and business of streetwear. A stamped Fragment logo appears above the midsole and again underneath a translucent Jordan logo on the heel to make a tasteful, but subtle imprint.
