Over the years, the Air Jordan 1 has been a revered silhouette within the Jordan Brand collection and has been an iconic model within sneaker collectors and Jumpman fans in general.
2018 proved how huge the impact of the Air Jordan 1 still has through different iterations throughout the year. One of the biggest elements that Jordan Brand has in contrast to a lot of competing brands is the stories behind their releases. Aside from the influence of Michael Jordan which is almost a given, most releases contain a theme or collaborations are curated from external influences. The Air Jordan 1 has seen a limited number of collaborations over the years however, in 2018, there has been a few that has been released with OFF-WHITE, Union LA and Solefly respectively. As far as themes go, Jordan Brand’s upcoming release is a nod to a popular comic character.
Jordan Brand aren’t afraid to base their shoes around cartoon themes as we’ve seen the Air Jordan XI ‘Space Jam’ in which Michael Jordan himself starred in. This time around the theme is on Spider Man: Into the Spider-Verse which is an upcoming animation movie where the main character wears a pair of Air Jordan 1s.
This iterations colour way is reminiscent to that of the original ‘Chicago’ release through the colour blocking however, its loosely based on the recent Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animation movie. The upper is made up of tumbled leather in a mixture of sail and varsity red with an addition of kirby-dots, a nod to Spider-mans costume. A black swoosh and Jordan wings logo on the heel as well as a blue and red tongue tab in leather to complete the upper, this is sat on top of a white midsole and an icy blue outsole.
The Air Jordan 1 ‘Origin Story’ is now SOLD OUT.
