The Air Jordan 1 first hit shelves in 1985, altering the footwear game forever. 35 years later, the silhouette is back on the scene in high-top form sporting Neutral Grey for the first time since its OG debut.
One of many subtle Air Jordan 1 colourways that released in 1985, sporting a white base along with a contrasting Swoosh and ankle collar epitomised the style of the 80’s and then the 90’s.
As the Air Jordan 1 silhouette changed slightly over the years, the demand stayed consistent throughout. Currently, as a sought after and popular model, the Air Jordan 1 is at the peak of its order with retros, new colourways and collaborations.
In 2020, Jordan Brand brought back the original shape of the Air Jordan 1 with the ‘New Beginnings’ Pack which released in Chicago for the 2020 NBA All-star weekend, also including the Air Ship which has never been retrod since its initial release in 1984. Jumpman then followed this release with the Air Jordan 1 ’85’ ‘Black/Varsity Red’ that was only 23,000 pairs worldwide.
In 2021, the Neutral Grey iteration makes its way back to consumers with close comparisons to the OG. Almost a monochrome upper with white leather, a neutral grey Swoosh and heel collar contrast the silhouette very subtly. Sneaker historians will be happy to know that this drop arrives with retro packaging—including a drawstring bag marking each of 23,000 pairs made, and a throwback hang tag depicting MJ soaring above the Chicago skyline.
