Few people have impacted sneaker culture in the way that Hikmet Sugoer has. As both the co-founder/driving force behind European sneaker boutique, Solebox, and as the founder and designer of the brand SONRA, Sugoer has produced some incredibly sought after work.
Sugoer’s tenure with Solebox ended in 2016. However the work he and his team produced there has left a huge mark on the industry for example colour-blocking wouldn’t be as popular without the Purple Devils, Toothpastes and Nazar Eye to name a few. His current venture with SONRA continues to contribute to that culture.
His latest project being an ode to his upbringing with the Puma Suede x Sonra collaboration. Although this isn’t the first time the two minds have met, this collab has a particular significance given that it’s to celebrate the shoe’s 50th anniversary.
Sugoer first became aware of the Puma Suede in 1984, and like most people his age at the time, instantly fell in love with the silhouette. It was this nostalgia that informed the direction of the collab.
The Puma Suede x SONRA features a hairy suede upper and faux snakeskin detailing (a throwback to Sugoer’s first collaboration with the brand) with a SONRA lace lock. The upper is dressed in a unique Lily Green colourway, that blends the green from vintage Puma boxes and SONRA’s ‘Grasshopper’ colourway.
The Puma Suede x SONRA is Now Available online. Sizes range from UK7 – UK11 (including half sizes), priced at £100.
