What began as a single visible air bag in the heel of the Air Max 1 has transformed into global movement. When Tinker Hatfield first made the design decision to show the Air Max technology rather than keep it hidden, he couldn’t have possibly predicated the impact it would have on popular culture.
The introduction of the Nike Air Max not only revolutionized the sports world but the fashion world as well. Fast forward 32 years and the technology has been fully realised in the Air Max 720. The single air bag has been replaced in favour of the largest air unit in history, which runs round the length of the shoe, providing unparalleled comfort and support.
Releasing in a men’s and women’s colour-way – aptly titled ‘Northern Lights Night’ and ‘Northern Lights Day’ – the 720 draws inspiration from the extraordinary, with a design philosophy firmly planted in the future.
To put this design appeal to the test we gave London and Paris based Air Max enthusiasts, Stevey Ryder and Selma Sebbagh, a first-hand look to get their initial reactions. Check it out below…
The Nike Air Max 720 ‘Northern Lights Night’ and ‘Northern Lights Day’ will be releasing in-store and online Friday 1st February. The former will run from a UK6 – UK12 (including half sizes), with the latter from a UK3 – UK8 (again including half sizes). Both pairs priced at £155.
