Cambridge, Massachussets based retailer Concepts team up with Scandanavian footwear brand KARHU, re-imagining their 90’s runner the Aria silhouette.

Concepts draw inspiration from the city of Helsinki on their latest collaboration project. Paying homage to KARHU’s home country, Finland, Concepts rework the classic runner giving it an update for 2015. Concepts focus on the Helsinki Train Station in particular, picking out intricate details and applying them to the Aria silhouette. Teal and Blue coloured suede covers the upper (a nod to the Green copper roofs). Bright Orange is used on the inner lining referencing the Finnish sunsets, and the Granite coloured midsole (a reference to the famed glowing granite stone) complements the colourway subtly.

The Concepts x KARHU Aria ‘Helsiinki Station’ is now available in-store & through mail order. Sizes range from UK7 – UK11 (including half sizes) priced at £95.

Nike and the Fragment Design group work on the latest Roshe Cortez perfect for the summer weathers ahead. 

The Fragment Design x Nike Roshe Cortez employs the classic styling of the other colouyrways which was previously released. The upper is constructed with a predominately nylon upper seen in a simple but effectlive navy and white colourway. The upper also consist of suede overlays, a Cortez hallmark. The trademark Swoosh is seen in white leather which matches the clean white sole unit.

Back in 1997, the Nike Air Foamposite One and the Nike Air Foamposite Pro arrived on the scene and changed the game forever.

Fast-forward to 2015, the Nike Air Foamposite One makes it’s return fully equipped with a familiar colour scheme. Somewhat reminiscent of the ‘Cool Grey’ Air Jordan 11, the shoe is dressed in wolf grey upper in suede and finished off with an icy blue sole. The shoe is kept tonal throughout giving it a very stealth look.

Kevin Durant of the Oaklahoma City Thunder presents the second colourway in his updated signature shoe with Nike, the KD V-8 ‘Bright Crimson’.

The KD8 is the latest version from the 2014 MVP Power Forward player Kevin Durant. The KD8 is the first Nike Basketball shoe to bring high-strength woven textile that can be designed in high resolution, down to the pixel, for the rigors of basketball footwork. The full-length Nike Zoom Air unit specifically designed for the KD8 provides responsive cushioning. This Zoom Air Unit is designed with strategically placed notches in the forefoot and heel to intuitively flex with the foot’s movement.

Inspiration for this latest colourway is taken from the colour of a V8 Supercar Durant purchased after he was drafted into the NBA. Bright Crimson and Black coloured Flyweave & Flyknit material is used on the upper, accented with a Grey Nike Swoosh on the lateral panel. Black details feature on the KD logo on tongue. The Bright Crimson theme is continued throughout the shoe seen on the midsole and outsole.

Following on from the release of the Classic Cortez OG, Nike drop the Classic Cortez Shark Low SP.

In this latest release from the Cortez series, Nike drop two tonal colourways in the Classic Cortez Shark Low SP. The upper consists of a Nylon upper with tonal Nubuck overlays seen on the toe-box, lacestay and heel. Nike branding comes in Swoosh form on the medial and lateral panels and on the Neoprene tongue.

Additional details include an embroidered a ‘mini Swoosh’ on the lateral side of the shoe. Leather has been added on the inner lining, upon closer inspection on the medial side is the message ‘About The Detail.Property of Nike’. Finally a Phylon midsole sits atop a Shark Tooth styled rubber outsole.

The Nike Classic Cortez Shark Low SP is available now online (in-store coming soon). Sizes range from UK5 – UK12 (including half sizes) priced at £110.

This summer sees the latest Nike Kobe X release.

Inspired by a masked mamba’s first game came Kobe’s senior year after he broke his nose diving for a ball. The next night, after going for 4-for-14 wearing a mask, Kobe threw it in the trash at half time and went off. Through the pain, he finished with 39 points in an overtime win that took his team to the state.

The Nike Kobe X ‘Pain’ edition is highlighted with a 3M reflective/heat-activated print covering majority of the upper. The print overlays a full mesh build that includes detailing of Red dots throughout the entire base of the shoe. Finishing off the look is a semi-translucent outsole with the same Red colour seen on the Air Unit.

Filling Pieces was established in 2009 in Amsterdam by owner and designer Giullaume Philibert as a means of bridging the gap between ‘haute couture and street couture’. 

The first sneaker in the collection is the Runner Transformed, combining a sporty aesthetic with luxurious materials and forward design cues. Using materials such as python fabrication & leather, with round metal eyelets, sitting atop a chunky midsole and finishing off the look is the leather lining.

The second sneaker in the colelction is the Low Top, which comes in three different variations. The Lingotto which features a diamond geometric patern throughout the whole of the upper. The Trio which also features a diamond-geometric pattern throughout but with a contrast of red on the back heel to break up the tonal look. Lastly, the Perforated which is seen in nubuck with perforated detailing throughout.

The last sneaker in the collection is the Mountain Cut. The silhouette still has the same luxurious aesthetic as the rest of the collection – quilted geometric pattern, debossed heart-like pattern and a simple all-leather pair.

German sportswear giant PUMA releases the latest Trinomic pack, this time taking inspiration from the heart and soul of American team sport culture the New York Yankees and New York Knicks.

Two iconic teams from different sporting worlds, baseball and basketball, that embody the density and richness of New York’s most watched sports. The Yankees, based in the Bronx are instantly recognisable through their signature colours, navy blue, white and grey. The New York Knicks, from the heart of Manhattan are famous for their blue and orange uniform. 

Each team’s colours are channelled through the Blaze of Glory silhouette which is equipped with Trinomic technology, one of PUMA’s signature features, employing neoprene and honeycomb cell cushioning for support. Additional technical detailing is created through a mesh vamp and the use of suede and leather overlays creating clever blocking on the Trinomic midsole.

Jordan Brand return with their ‘Element Series’ consisting of some of Jordan Brands most sought after silhouettes. This release sees the Jordan 11LAB4 dressed in a bold colourway.

Sticking with the same inspiration from the previous 11LAB4 release (see here) we are treated to a full patent leather upper in a striking University Red colour. Classic Jordan 4 details such as the mesh plate on the sidewalls still remain, with the Jordan Jumpman logo situated on the heel and outsole. Housed in special packaging complete with an envelope containing details behind the series, this Jordan 11LAB4 is sure to have heads turning!

L.A. based boutique Sneaker Politics celebrate the 25th birthday of Reebok’s famed 90s runner the Ventilator.

Creative motivation can come from a vision in your own backyard, or sometimes it arrives direct from a far-off exotic location…

Derek Curry, owner of Sneaker Politics’ inspiration came from a remote landmark in Indonesia. On top of a volcano lies three lakes side by side. Each lake looks like they’re almost touching each other, yet each one is a totally different colour making it look surreal from aerial photos. The ‘3 Lakes’ Ventilator is dressed in a smooth grey suede upper that mixes a trio of perforated nucbucks with Mint Green highlights. The speckled midsole and flecked rope laces add the finishing touches to the silhouette.
