Inspired by the broken backboard from Michael Jordan’s dunk in a Nike exhibition game played in Italy in 1985, the Air Jordan 1 ‘Shattered Backboard’ is back for Summer ’15.

To celebrate the only time MJ ever shattered a backboard in his career, Jordan Brand is releasing a special edition Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG. This version of the Air Jordan 1 Retro dons a black toe look, swapping out the traditional Chicago red accents for orange to match the colours found on the jersey Jordan was wearing at the exhibition game. Using soft premium leather throughout the upper this Air Jordan 1 will be perfect for on court and the streets. Finished with a White midsole and an Orange outsole to carry on the theme.

As Independance day draws closer for the USA, Nike Basketball produce a special pack commemorating the federal holiday.

The Nike Basketball USA collection consists of four silhouttes – Kyrie 1, KD8, Kobe X and LeBron XII. All four models feature patriotic colours throughout with intricate details subtly accented like the Stars and Stripes motif seen on the Hyperposite Wings on the LeBron XII, the mysterious graphic printed on the upper of the Kobe X or the Stripes graphic underlay the shows through Hyperfuse upper overlay subtly on the Kyrie 1.

The KD8 is the latest version from the 2014 MVP Power Forward player Kevin Durant. The KD8 is the first Nike Basketball shoe to bring high-strength woven textile that can be designed in high resolution, down to the pixel, for the rigors of basketball footwork. The full-length Nike Zoom Air unit specifically designed for the KD8 provides responsive cushioning. This Zoom Air Unit is designed with strategically placed notches in the forefoot and heel to intuitively flex with the foot’s movement.

Action sports footwear & apparel brand, teams up with prolific Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami for the 2015 Summer season of Vault by Vans.

Murakami’s artistic anime-influenced style is renowed for its incorporation of bold and lively colours, shapes and imagery inspired by traditional Japanese art and pop culture. For fall 2015, two of Murakami’s recurring motifs, the smiling flower and skull patterns, are brought to life in a limited-edition collection of footwear and apparell. 

For the first part of the collection, Murakami presents his favourtie Vans silhouette, the Classic Slip-On, in six adult unisex colourways alongside a trio of toddler-sized offerings. The first half of the adult assortment showcases the smiling flower print in blue, multi-coloured and silver line variations while the second half has the skull motif in a dark blue, yellow and gold line colour-ups. The toddler offering is a more subdued aesthetic to smaller feet with tiny Slip-Ons embellished by a single image prints of Murakami’s flower, skull and dog logo. 

The second part of the collection is the apparel portion of the Vault by Vans x Takashi Murakami features the multi-coloured smiling flowers, silver line skulls on white and portrait of Takashi Murakami on blue. The last installment of the collection is the limited-edition series of the skateboard decks. The three prints of the boards are the multi-coloured skull, multi-coloured smiling flowers and a portrait of Takashi Murakami on blue. While the top deck artwork for all three is the Vault by Vans x Takashi Murakami collection logo which is printed on wood.

ASICS Tiger bring an early 90s runner back to life for 2015, unveiling the GEL-RESPECTOR in its’ original glory.

Following the success of it’s predecessor the GEL-Lyte III, the GEL-RESPECTOR made its’ debut in 1991. The 2015 re-interpretation is comprised of a Light Grey and Dark Grey synthetic suede upper with mesh underlays in White and Aster Purple. The midsole uses moulded E.V.A. consisting of two components for added mid-foot support. Additional details include the iconic ASICS waves – two different rubber densities inspired by sea: a subtle nod to the city of Kobe in Japan, the brand’s home and a major port. The TPU heel stabilizer in Black provides extra stability whilst running.

The iconic Nike Air Trainer 1 Mid was worn by famed sporting personality Bo Jackson and marks its return in a limited edition ‘Puerto Rico’ colourway. 

Nike’s latest QS offering is moldeled arround a supple leather upper accented by weaved fabric overlays on the side panels and heel counter in Puerto Rico’s national colour palette. Despite the use of brightly colour panels, the rest of the shoe’s detailing remains a pure white with a nice embroidered Puerto Rican gecko on the tongue with patch flag detailing stitched below the heel tab.

The Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Gone Fishing’ will be making its debut inspired by those who made an early exit from the playoffs this year.

The ‘Gone Fishing’ edition of the Nike Air Foamposite One features a Black upper with Red detailing on the interior, pull tabs, tongue and outline of the Nike Swooshes. The highlight of the sneaker is the fish scale patterns with an irridescent finish mimicking the animal’s multi-coloured sheen. The theme continiues with a fish skeleton stitched on the heel and a graphic sign on the sock liner that reads ‘Gone Fishing’.

Fragment Design and Nike collaborate together on Nike’s cross-trainer silhouette taking inspiration from the iconic tennis court in Paris, France.

This latest effort sees Fragment Design reimagining the classic cross-trainer shoe with a contrast Clay coloured leather upper taking inspiration from the famous Clay tennis court in Paris, France. Subtle tonal accents like the Fragment Design brand logo are added on the lateral heel quietly sitting alongside embroidered Nike branding on the heel. The inner lining continues the tonal theme in perforated leather form. A closer look reveals a message ‘About The Details. Property of Nike’ on the medial side of the lining. The footbed is a combined White and Rust Red coloured graphic with dual-branded logos. Finally a clean, White midsole/outsole is added with Nike branding in Fluo Yellow on the outsole. Alternate laces are also included in the box, with metallic gold swing tags featuring both Nike Tennis and Fragment Design branding. The second colourway features a predominately white upper with hints of chino on the overlay.

After working closely together with Saucony on their Grid 9000 co-lab dubbed the ‘Bushwhacker’, Australian-based sneaker lifestyle magazine Sneaker Freaker are back adding their interpretation to Saucony’s G.R.I.D. SD silhouette.

The G.R.I.D. SD ‘Kushwhacker’ is Sneaker Freaker’s second collaboration with Boston footwear brand Saucony. This mysterious plant inspired make-up starts with premium grade, Purple Haze coloured suede on the upper, with Black mesh underlays. The G.R.I.D. SD window is accented in Black Widow coloured suede with the graphic details picked out in White. Acapulco Beige suede is applied to the Saucony branding on the lateral panel, with ‘nugs’ of 3M reflective material and Smokey Grey suede added on the heel. Sneaker Freaker branding comes in embroidered form on the tongue label. This is finished off with an Acapulco Beige midsole and outsole.

Malaysian retailers CROSSOVER is next up with their rendition of the Reebok Ventilator. 

The ‘NAM’ pack is delivered in an all-black nubuck leather upper with White detailing on the side panels, atop of a speckled mid-sole and contrasting white outsole. Finishing touches to thius stealth sneaker is the notable elements such as the CROSSOVER trademark skull logo on the tongue and ‘SUBVERT’ motton on the heel tab.

The CROSSOVER x Reebok Ventilator ‘NAM’ Pack is available now ONLINE ONLY. Sizes range from UK6 – UK12 (not including half sizes), priced at £110. 

The Air Jordan 6 Retro White/Infrared is one of a few other low-top colourways of the classic Air Jordan 6 set to begin debuting this Summer 2015.

The first Air Jordan 6 Low ‘White Infrared’ is dressed in a predominately White, Infrared 23 and Black colour scheme. The sneakers upper includes a White tumbled and smooth leather base, with Black detailing on the tongue and finished with the Infrared 23 accents on the tongue, midsole and heel pull adding a nice pop. The shoe is completed with an icy translucent outsole that includes a Jumpman logo in Infrared 23.
