It’s important to keep your eyes open; to be aware of what’s going on around you, and often, preying on you. We would like to introduce this Fatima Mid ‘Giraffe’ in collaboration with UBIQ Japan.
During a recent trip to Japan, we were left in awe of the intrinsic sense of worship that surrounded the country. In stark contrast to the streets of London that we walk everyday, the breathtaking Shinto and Buddhist Temples were an eye opener, and it was this insight into these mindsets and practices that left us inspired. With that in mind, coupled with the want to design a product with our friends at UBIQ, we introduce the Footpatrol x UBIQ Japan ‘Giraffe’ Fatima Mid.
Taking inspiration from the giraffe’s (or Kanji) representation as a mythical and magical creature in numerous Asian countries, including Japan, the mammal is believed to have signaled greatness and power. With this in mind, we took a staple giraffe pattern and wrapped it around the Fatima Mid silhouette. Furthering that, we implemented a faux-fur texture to sure up the details.
Continuing to enforce our newfound education of Japanese culture, we chose to include a Yoshida Shide, a laser etched mark into the heel panel. A mark of purification within Japanese culture, within Shinto temples, we felt it should have rightful place on our shoe. The inclusion of suede touches across the model’s tongue ensured both party’s [ourselves and UBIQ Japan] attention to quality remained intact, whilst further Footpatrol branding appears on the thin tongue tab.
Coinciding with the release of our collab’, we’ve also teamed up with UBIQ’s parent brand Atmos Japan, on a small apparell collection, consisting of a Five-Panel Camp Cap and Worker’s Overshirt. The five-panel camp cap features a black canvas base with a brown peak. The giraffe faux fur patch is stitched in the centre of the front crown, with Atmos branding embroidered on the back. The Worker’s Overshirt is made up of a heavy cotton material in a Safari Brown colour. Contrast brown panels are added to the sleeves and pockets. The faux fur giraffe patch features above the right pocket with Atmos branding on the left. A large Footpatrol gas mask logo graphic is emblazoned across the back.
The five-panel camp cap and worker’s overshirt will be available as a free gift with purchase to the first few IN-STORE ONLY customers (available while stocks last).
The Footpatrol x UBIQ Japan Fatima Mid ‘Giraffe’ is available now both in-store and online. Available online from. Sizes range from UK4 – UK12 (not including half sizes), priced at £70.
*PLEASE NOTE* The Fatima Mid shoe fits large, we would suggest going down a full size.
