1991 was a small but good year for vintage wines, they say. Just like those vintage wines, the Mowabb was just as good if not better.

This Tinker Hatfield designed masterpiece is dubbed the brand’s best and most successful hybrid running/trail shoes. Tinker wanted to work on a project like this to see how much he could get away with in terms of design elements. Fusing pieces from the Huarache bootie, which was also released that year (1991), and the Nike Wildwood. It created a whole new feeling of enjoyment when wearing a hiking shoe. Lightweight, supportive and cushioned all in one glorious mix!

During the early days of ACG, Nike reps would take frequent trips to Moab, Utah to test new ACG products, putting them to the test in a range of hard wearing outdoor activities. Moab, with its wide variety of terrain and heritage that it holds, helped influence Tinker more with the design process with colours and also the name of the shoe itself. Starting with concepting a Native American inspired moccasin.

Between 1991 and 1992 the Mowabb had a minor design change when releasing their Limited Editions line. The once plain sock bootie with ACG branding on the ankles changed from the ‘91 OG was later adapted to don the Huarache logo and ‘Air Mowabb’ motif most popularly seen on the OG ‘Gravity Purple pair from ‘92.

To celebrate this anniversary. Nike has brought back 2 colour ways to tickle your taste buds! Making another comeback, the OG ‘Birch’ colourway paired with its classic blue and orange collar. And the long-awaited return of the ‘Gravity Purple’ which hasn’t seen the light of day since its initial release in the 90s! Both bearing the ACG ankle branding, there have also been some new additions to the designs itself. Both being bestowed with additional pull tabs to improve accessibility and mini swoosh detailing on the lateral part of each toe box.

Launching online on Friday 3rd September (Available online from 08:00AM BST), priced at £145.
